How to Commission an Animal Portrait:

An example portrait

I paint from photographs and in order to achieve the best possible final result the photographs must be of high quality. They need to be as clear as possible so that I can see the fine detail of the eyes, whiskers and fur. The chosen photograph also needs to show a view of your pet that you really love, and that best portrays your pets' character. Sometimes a few additional pictures taken at different positions can be extremely useful for me to envisage the 3-dimensional shape of your pet.

The portrait will be painted in acrylic paints which are very stable and generally very light fast, on a lightly patterned paper called elephant hide. As you can see from the pictures in my gallery, the painting will consist of a detailed portrait head, with or without collar, whichever you prefer, and some detailing of the upper body, fading into pencil. Please feel free to discuss any other feature you would like, or are unsure of. The painting is presented to you fully mounted on acid free mount board, but not framed.

Size: The image is approximately 15cm x 12cm
This is not large as the work is so detailed.

I am now offering a service whereby your picture can then be enlarged and printed onto a stretched canvas in a variety of sizes. The successful reproduction of the original painting is due to the detailed quality of the painting.
